Data stored on your device
Desk Monkey stores your check-in and exercise history, posture progress, mood choices, achievements and streaks, daily goals, work hours, reminder choices, onboarding status and other app settings locally on your device. Full local records are not uploaded to Desk Monkey's servers, although selected values are sent to PostHog when analytics are on, as described below. Local notifications also run through your device's operating system. Desk Monkey does not use your camera to analyse posture.
Local data generally stays until you clear app storage or remove the app. Removing the app may delete it, subject to normal device or operating-system backups. Historical records may also be pruned by the app.
Optional analytics and your control
When the app is built with its PostHog project token, analytics are enabled by default, including on first launch. They are not an onboarding opt-in. You can turn analytics off at any time in the app's Settings, under App Info, without an account. Your choice is saved on your device and applied when the app starts; turning analytics off stops future optional collection through PostHog. It does not automatically erase events already sent. A build without the token sends no PostHog analytics.
What app analytics contains
We use PostHog to understand app use and improve its features. App events cover launches and app lifecycle, onboarding, check-ins, exercise categories and sessions, individual exercise identifiers, completion or skipping, duration, mood selections after exercises, achievements, reminder settings and interactions, and use of share cards. Check-in events include posture-stage labels, counts, goals and streak values. Some exercise events include category and exercise IDs, entry points, counts and durations. Reminder events can include a message variant, weekday, broad time band and reminder count. We do not send a medical diagnosis or your name or email address in these app events.
PostHog may attach a persistent, pseudonymous installation identifier and technical context such as platform, device model, operating-system version and app version. Its servers may process the IP address used for transmission. This information is not linked to a registered Desk Monkey account. We aim to collect only these limited usage and technical categories; app errors are not deliberately reported through PostHog's exception-capture feature in the current setup.
PostHog settings and processing
The app is configured to use PostHog's EU ingestion host by default. Session Replay and screen recording are disabled. The app does not configure automatic screen-view tracking or interaction autocapture; its named usage events and the SDK's app-lifecycle events are sent when analytics are on. We use PostHog as our analytics provider. Analytics information is kept according to the configured retention settings of that provider and only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes above; no retention period is set in this repository. We do not sell personal information.
This website
The Desk Monkey website remembers your language choice in browser storage. Its optional PostHog script runs only if a project key is configured. If enabled, it records visits, language and navigation choices, FAQ opens and store-link clicks, together with referrer and campaign parameters where present. Website autocapture and Session Replay are disabled. The in-app analytics switch controls the app, not website visits.
Children
Desk Monkey is a general wellness app and is not specifically directed at young children. Please contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information to us through analytics.
Your privacy rights
Where applicable under EU data-protection law, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability or object to processing, and withdraw consent where processing depends on it. You may complain to a competent supervisory authority, including the Austrian Data Protection Authority. Much of your app data exists only on your device; we cannot access or change information that never reaches us. For requests about analytics data, email hello@deskmonkey.app; a pseudonymous identifier may be needed to locate records.
Changes and contact
We will update this policy when our practices change and show the current date above.
